The Southern California Marine Institute provides many different programs for outreach, education and community involvement. The overarching theme of SCMI is to understand the link between nature, industry, and science in the marine setting to inspire environmental stewardship in our community. There is no better way to spread this message of stewardship than through education and community outreach. Living in a coastal community it is even more important for us to understand and educate ourselves of the threats facing the ocean environments so we can respond appropriately and effectively to minimize those threats. The more our community understands and appreciates the ocean the greater the changes will be!
