Catalina Semester Prerequisites

Required Prerequisites

• Completed all lower division biological (or major focused) coursework
• Biostatistics (or an equivalent course)

Optional Prerequisites (Strongly Recommended)

• AAUS Scientific Diving Course – A two week SCUBA certification course is available at an additional cost for qualified students who wish to SCUBA during the semester.
• MOTC Motorboat Operating Training Course – This one week course will be required if you plan on operating a vessel while at the CSU Marine Biology Semester. This course is free to all CSU/OSI students.

These prerequisite courses will be available during the summer prior to the semester. Although they are not required in order to be successful in the CSU Marine Biology Semester, it may be helpful while students are conducting their directed research projects.
